Ahmed Mohamed Al Naqbi, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Development Bank.

Ahmed Mohamed Al Naqbi, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Development Bank, said “The UAE’s hosting of the COP28 conference in November 2023 represents another major milestone in its commitment to climate action. Under the Presidency of Dr Sultan Al Jaber, COP28 promises to be an event that will convene experts from around the world to effectively and equitably address climate change and its global impacts.

Together with the selection of HE Razan Al Mubarak as the COP28 High Level Climate Champion, and HE Shamma Al Mazrui as the COP28 Youth Champion, the UAE is clearly demonstrating its commitment to a broad stakeholder engagement approach including the youth as future leaders in achieving consensus on progressive climate action and a practical energy transition.

As the UAE’s development bank, EDB plays an important role in helping finance companies and projects that contribute to the nation’s economic competitiveness and resilience, including its transition to a net-zero economy. Through our dedicated focus on strategic sectors that support the clean energy ecosystem – such as manufacturing, infrastructure, and advanced technology – we look forward to accelerating the journey towards real solutions following a successful COP28.”
