Personal, security robots, Pilgrim’s Smart Bracelet, 5G introduced by STC during 1442 AH Hajj season

Alwetaid extended their heartfelt congratulations and blessings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, HRH King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense – May Allah protect them – for the great success of the 1442 AH Hajj season, which, despite the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic on the world, reflected the KSA’s professional capabilities in organizing and harnessing digital technologies and precautionary measures to preserve the safety of the pilgrims, hence receiving a well-deserved Islamic and international praise.

HRH the Chairman of the Board of Directors noted that stc and its Group companies, in cooperation with government entities such as the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the Ministry of Health, the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA), Doyof Al Rahman Program, and the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites (RCMC), have harnessed the latest technologies and digital solutions to implement the digital Hajj system to ensure the safety and health of Doyof Al Rahman and to provide a set of regulatory and preventive measures in accordance with global health controls and standards.

For his part, the CEO pointed out that stc Group has expanded its digital services provided to pilgrims this year, as it has provided two types of “personal” and “security” robots to help pilgrims and monitor and follow up on compliance with precautionary and preventive measures. The Group has also contributed to supporting the Pilgrim’s Smart Bracelet (NUSK) service, in cooperation with SDAIA and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, to enable digital follow-up on pilgrims’ health. The Group has also contributed to increasing the capacity of its 5G network in the holy sites by 48%  compared to last year. Data traffic on Day of Arafah increased by 220% compared to last year, while the volume of voice traffic increased by 350%. This increase was transmitted over the 5G and 4G networks at the rate of 97%.

He explained that stc has provided 100% of its services digitally to pilgrims through mystc platform, in addition to self-service devices in the holy sites. It has also provided maintenance centers, technical emergency teams, service centers, and retail outlets, which are all equipped with electronic recharge technology that works around the clock, in addition to delivering services to pilgrims’ locations in the holy sites.
