Recognising differences can help pave the way for diversity

Giuliana Carullo, Research Engineering Manager, Tenable.

I would say that I am a leader by choice, not by chance. Unfortunately, the subject of diversity in the technical workforce is a recognised challenge. Over the years, it has got better but there are still improvements to be made. I look forward to the day when these barriers will be eliminated, and there will no longer be any need to champion diversity.

By implementing good leadership practices as well as providing solid training and mentoring to new leaders, we can help in reducing the gap. This will open and further cement communication channels among all of us, regardless of our background, gender, race, ethnicity, or demographic. Only by recognising and celebrating our differences will we be able to break the glass ceiling, paving the way for diversity among the leaders of the future.
