Israel, UAE lead in remote hiring across Middle East and Africa finds global HR platform, Deel
Deel, a global HR platform at the forefront of remote work, reveals the UAE as one of the top five countries for hiring in the MEA, particularly in tech roles. With the rapid digital transformation and increased emphasis on remote work globally, the UAE stands out in the Middle East and Africa region and is leading the way forward.
According to Deel’s data, the MEA region has seen a 124% increase in hiring in the last 12 months, with over 4,400 global companies choosing to hire in the region during that period. Deel’s latest insights from the first half of 2023 spotlight the UAE’s integral role in supporting the global rise in tech hiring, with the nation ranking second among countries recruiting in the region.

According to Deel’s research, the UAE ranks second in MEA remote hiring, with a 144% increase over the last 12 months, closely trailing Israel which ranks first. Other nations making significant strides include South Africa, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia. A broad spectrum of industries in the region are tapping into remote talent with tech roles continuing to dominate the field including IT, computer software development and Internet services, alongside e-sports, finance and trading, which witnessed a 56.3% increase on the previous half year results.
The spotlight on the hiring trends of over 4,400 companies revealed that from a total population of workers, Nigeria was the top country employees were contracted from (4,084), Turkey (3,427), South Africa (3,178) followed by the UAE (1,972), with Kenya (1,863) coming in fifth. The latest data reflects growing international collaborations and remote working possibilities that employers and employees are taking full advantage of in the region.
