Hewlett Packard Enterprise transforms data lifecycle management

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has introduced new file, block, disaster, and backup recovery data services designed to assist customers in eliminating data silos, reducing cost and complexity, and enhancing performance. The new file storage data services provide scale-out, enterprise-grade performance for data-intensive workloads, while the expanded block services offer mission-critical storage at a mid-tier price point.

The new file and block offerings leverage a flexible architecture through HPE Alletra Storage MP, allowing customers to store, manage, and protect all types of data from a single, unified platform in the hybrid cloud. Together, the new data services deliver an intuitive cloud operating experience that empowers customers to transform their data lifecycle management and thrive in the era of insight.

“Customers today face unprecedented challenges in managing their data. The rapid increase in the volume and complexity of data has forced organizations to manage it all with a costly combination of siloed storage solutions,” said Tom Black, executive vice president and general manager, HPE Storage. “The new HPE GreenLake data services and expanded HPE Alletra innovations make it easier and more economical to manage multiple types of data, storage protocols, and workloads, allowing customers to focus on accelerating innovation and driving business results.”

Businesses of all sizes seek to leverage data to improve outcomes while reducing the cost and complexity of data management. In the meantime, the volume of data generated globally is expected to double by 2026.

Organizations are now faced with a plethora of workload types and data protocols, each requiring unique support and management systems, and struggle to backup, protect, and recover the business-critical data.

To assist organizations in overcoming this data lifecycle nightmare, HPE is introducing a new, block- or file-store-configurable modular storage solution. The HPE Alletra Storage MP supports a disaggregated infrastructure with multiple scalable storage protocols on the same hardware. Customers can deploy, manage, and orchestrate data and storage services regardless of workload and storage protocol on a single, unified cloud platform. The flexibility of HPE Alletra Storage MP offers a better price-to-performance ratio today and the ability to scale out infrastructure on the same hardware in the future at a lower cost, thereby enhancing investment protection. In addition, the intuitive cloud experience enabled by AIOps enables storage provisioning and management without the need for specialized knowledge.

HPE GreenLake Expands Block Storage and Enters the File Storage Market

The new file and block storage offerings from HPE, which utilize a flexible architecture from HPE Alletra Storage MP, are accessible via HPE GreenLake. Together, the ability to orchestrate and manage file and block data services from a unified platform enables customers to concentrate on leveraging the power of data to unleash innovation and gain a competitive edge.

HPE GreenLake for File Storage is a scale-out service that accelerates the processing of data-intensive workloads with enterprise-level performance and throughput of hundreds of gigabytes per second. The new file storage service combines the cloud expertise of HPE GreenLake with the VAST Data software to create a highly resilient, exabyte-scale file service.

“At Agoda, our most vital assets are customer information and travel supplier data. We need a data platform that can easily scale performance and capacity to keep up with our growth,” said Idan Zalzberg, CTO, Agoda. “Agoda has always been about using the best technology for the task; to that end, the combination of HPE GreenLake with VAST Data technology makes perfect sense and we look forward to seeing HPE GreenLake for File Storage deliver best-in-class performance for years to come.”

HPE GreenLake for Block Storage is expanding to provide mission-critical storage with the availability, performance, and scalability of midrange storage at midrange costs. The new HPE GreenLake for Block Storage is the first disaggregated, scale-out block storage to guarantee 100 percent data availability. HPE GreenLake for Block Storage now provides a better price-to-performance ratio while maintaining the same always-on, always-fast architecture that enables customers to meet SLAs for mission-critical applications and mixed workloads. With HPE GreenLake for Block Storage subscription services, customers can acquire HPE Alletra Storage MP immediately via an up-front capital expenditure.

“Innovation is one of the pillars of our brand so we appreciate how HPE is at the forefront with their hybrid cloud vision and bringing the cloud operational experience on-premises,” said Evan Scates, Enterprise Systems Manager, Dallas Cowboys. “We are a long-time HPE customer and believe the simple management, efficient scale and high performance delivered by the new HPE GreenLake For Block Storage will add even more value to our IT operations and customer experience.”
