On-demand grocery delivery service in Dubai through Careem NOW app

Careem NOW

Careem has launched its grocery delivery service in Dubai through the Careem NOW app as a way to help customers during this challenging period. The on-demand service supports customers with the delivery of groceries and other essentials within a quick response time, and continues to reinforce the Careem promise, to offer customers a continued comprehensive array of services, all displayed and catalogued on the app.

To avail the service, customers only need to download the Careem NOW app, choose their preferred merchant, select from a catalogue of available items and add them to their basket. Upon check out, customers can choose their location and payment method, and a Careem Captain will deliver the order within the hour, currently the shortest wait times in comparison to other market timelines.

Users of Careem NOW no longer need to use multiple apps for different services, with Careem NOW offering food, groceries, organic shops, pharmacies, coffee shops,  roasters and pet stores as well as confectionaries and other services across the city.

In addition to being the only app to offer Lulu Hypermarket in Dubai, Careem Shops include 7-Eleven, 800-Pharmacy, Al Manara Pharmacy, Nescafe Dolce Gusto, The Pet Corner, The Coffee Souq, Julius Meinl Coffee, Al Dar Roastery, Rootz Organics, Al Douri Signature, Al Douri Mart, Supermarché, Narinport, Four Seasons Pharmacy, and La Despensa Spanish Food Store, to name a few. This launch marks a milestone for Careem, positioning the Super App as a new contender in the grocery and other essentials delivery space.

The service is operating at the highest sanitary levels, with Careem Captains equipped with masks, sanitisers and gloves to ensure strict handling of food and non-food orders. Delivery boxes are also regularly sanitised throughout the day. Careem added a no contact delivery option before placing the order to ask Captains to leave the order at the door. They also encourage their customers to use cashless payment options, such as credit card or Careem wallet.

The Shops service is a step closer to Careem’s vision to become the region’s everyday Super App, one single, unified smartphone app catering to people’s local and daily needs. The Careem Super App will provide services across three areas:

  • Mobility of people. Doing everything to move people and get them to where they want to go.
  • Mobility of things. Getting people the things they need when they need them.
  • Financial services. Providing a single, safe and secure payment system for all Careem services.

Gheed El Makkaoui, General Manager of Careem UAE, said: “Careem’s pledge to assist the community, its partners, customers and Captains during these confusing times is our top priority. This new product launch enables us to further meet the needs of the community, and we are delighted to be able to offer  delivery of essentials through our platform in a safe, efficient way to simplify the lives of our users. Our partners such as Lulu Hypermarket, 800-Pharmacy and 7-Eleven have been a critical part of our success in launching and will continue to be the key to the offerings’ success.”
