Square Off raises $1M in crowdfunding for new automated smart board products

The founder of Square Off.

Square Off, a maker of automated chess boards, has hit the $1 Million crowdfunding mark for their latest board gaming range, Square Off Neo and Swap. 5,500+ backers from over 70 countries have backed Neo, an affordable, automated chess board, and Swap, a first-of-its-kind board with multiple games. The crowdfunding campaign, launched on Kickstarter and followed up by Indiegogo, is 2000% funded over the goal amount of $50,000.

Square Off Neo, at a starting price of $169, is a lighter, faster and affordable chess board meant for every household. Its adaptive AI, personalised chess coaching and 1.5x faster movements makes it a-hard-to-resist for any chess lover out there. With a seamless, no-press movement of pieces and silent machinery, the board is quite a leap from the existing models.

Square Off Swap, currently priced at $229, offers users the convenience of playing multiple board games on the same surface. To begin with, it supports four games, chess, draughts, Halma and Connect 4, making it a desirable board game for all age groups. Paired with the Square Off App, both these products are globally connected; so, whether your opponent is in a different room or a different continent, the game still goes on! Swap also packs in the much-awaited Blitz Chess feature.

The company’s previous crowdfunding campaign in 2017, for their products Kingdom Set and Grand Kingdom Set was a huge success too, raising over $535,000. Square Off boards enable users to play against the board or anyone from across the globe. The users can challenge anyone for a game, on the board or even the app, giving Square Off users access to more players.

“We are exhilarated by the success of our second crowdfunding campaign,” says CEO Bhavya Gohil. “We introduced Neo with a vision of an exemplary, affordable chessboard for every home and with Swap, we’ve attempted to revolutionise board gaming and thereby the experience altogether. Our next step is to get the boards in production and deliver at the earliest. Though the pandemic has affected our delivery timelines, we are committed to deliver quality products to our backers at the earliest.”
